Leadership in Action Week
Leadership in Action Week was created with the aim of taking our pupils outside of the classroom and into an unfamiliar environment, where they will be confronted with challenges that require them to step outside their comfort zone, demonstrate courage, build friendships, and become more adaptable, resilient learners.
The programme consists of international trips – with previous destinations including Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Borneo, mainland China, Malaysia, Bali and the UK – and trips within Hong Kong in Sai Kung Country Park and at School.
The international trips give our pupils a chance to understand different cultures, histories and environments, and participate in activities that foster teamwork and collaboration, such as trekking, kayaking, snorkelling, rafting and cooking. Importantly, the trips include opportunities for service and contribution to the local community, from volunteering at local schools to building water filtration systems, and from making bricks to replanting indigenous tree species.
In Hong Kong, the focus of the camps in Sai Kung is resilience and independence, with pupils staying in tents, cooking their own food and taking on physical and teamwork challenges, including abseiling, zip-lining, kayaking and hiking. The school-based week sees pupils undertake work with local charitable organisations and participate in outdoor activities: beach clean-ups, hikes and high-ropes courses.
Leadership in Action Week brings our pupils meaningful experiences, deepens friendships and creates lifelong memories.
