Harrow pupils conquer chess challenge
Harrow Hong Kong pupils of all ages proved to be a potent force at the 10th Annual ISF Academy Chess Open, held on Sunday 10th March 2019.
Six pupils from Year 1 through to Year 12 switched from the physical challenge of the School’s Long Ducker event on Saturday 9th March, to the more cerebral challenge of six rounds of chess competition held over seven hours the very next day.
Vincent (Year 12, Peel) was crowned the best player in the Age 18 year group, with teammate Mike (Year 12, Peel) achieving the same honour in the Age 17 category. Jennifer (Year 8, Fry) took the Female Champion trophy in the Secondary Section.
Meanwhile, Wilfred (Year 6, Banks) and younger brother Oliver (Year 1, Horse) both achieved commendable performances, with Wilfred finishing sixth in the highly-competitive Upper Primary Section, and his younger sibling coming third in the Age 6 and Under Section. Oliver also won a trophy for fifth place in the School Team Competition in the Age 6 and Under Section.
Year 7 pupil Sunny (Banks) also took part, winning three rounds in the Upper Primary Section.
