Pastoral Senior Leadership Team

SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)

The Pastoral Senior Leadership Team consists of four key positions.

PRINCIPAL DEPUTY HEAD
(PASTORAL & WELLBEING)

MR TOM HICKS

The Principal Deputy Head (Pastoral & Wellbeing) oversees the Whole School provision of pastoral care and is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). They are the primary point of contact for all issues pertaining to the safety of our pupils and community and are responsible for coordinating the responses to any such cases. They act as a line manager for a number of our Houses and coordinate the strategic direction of the School, and in particular, how we go about developing our pastoral care.

DEPUTY HEAD
(PASTORAL AND WELLBEING – Upper School

MS. KIRSTEN MCLINTOCK

The Deputy Head (Pastoral and Wellbeing) is responsible for the day-to-day wellbeing of pupils in the Upper School and works closely with the Principal Deputy Head to set pastoral strategy. They act as deputy safeguarding lead and manage the House Masters and House Mistresses (HMs) and Matrons, ensuring that every child is recognised and cared for, whether boarding or day pupils. They also work closely with the pupil leaders through the Pupil Dialogue Council and Pupil Voice Survey and collaborate with the support services in school (IT, Health Care Centre, Counselling) to offer a first-class holistic experience for the young people at Harrow. The Deputy Head (Pastoral and Wellbeing) oversees the formally-taught PSHE programme at Harrow.

ASSISTANT DEPUTY HEAD
(PASTORAL & WELLBEING – Upper School)

MS KIM GRATION

Harrow Hong Kong is privileged to have a third tier of pastoral SLT in the form of an Assistant Head (Pastoral & Wellbeing). Again, they undertake the duties of a DDSL and also line manage some of our House Masters / Mistresses, as well as the Gap Tutors who are attached to the Prep School. The Assistant Deputy Head (Pastoral & Wellbeing) manages the day to day running of the pastoral provision in the Prep School. They also coordinate a number of the key “stand alone” projects that the School undertakes to enhance its pastoral provision throughout the year, for example, the Wellbeing Ambassadors programme, the weekly ‘Pulse’ survey and the School’s commemoration of World Mental Health Day.

DEPUTY HEAD
(PUPIL WELLBEING – LOWER SCHOOL)

LAUREN BERNER

The Lower School Deputy Head (Pupil Wellbeing) oversees all pastoral and safeguarding matters in the Lower School. They are responsible for managing the Year Group Leaders to ensure that the personal, social and emotional needs of all the pupils are met, that behaviour is excellent and children make positive friendships throughout their time in the Lower School. They monitor systems and data which ensure that every child is known and supported as a unique individual.

Collectively, these four members of the SLT are responsible for ensuring that the School’s pastoral provision functions effectively and continues to remain relevant, dynamic and innovative.
